Islamabad, Feb 27: Feeling the heat of global alienation and domestic pressure following the air strikes carried out by the IAF in Balakot yesterday, Prime Minister Imran Khan today invited New Delhi for talks to de-escalate the situation.
Imran made this invitation in a televised address to Pakistan following an aerial dog fight in the morning wherein a Pakistani F-16 jet, which was on the way to target Indian military assets, was brought down by the Indian Air Force for violating Indian airspace.
Imran said Pakistan is willing to hold talks on terrorism and also understands Pulwama tragedy has hurt India.
He also hoped better sense prevails and both nations find solution.
Imran said wars are full of miscalculation and both nations cannot afford it, given the weapons in possession.
Earlier, India's External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj in China said India does not look to escalate the sitatuation.
Sushma said this at the trilateral summit in Wuzhen, China. The meeting was also attended by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Russian counterpart Sergei Lavaro.
She also asked all countries to show zero tolerance to terrorism.
Sushma also defended India's airstrikes on terrorist camps across LoC by saying that it was non-military pre-emptive action with an objective of curbing further attacks by JeM.
The Pulwama attack on 40 CRPF men is perpetrated by JeM, a Pakistan-based and supported terrorist organisation proscribed by the UN and other countries.
